You are so lucky
While it should not wait for the holiday season, take a moment to consider just how lucky you are.
First, you are still here, alive and in good enough mental and physical shape to be able to read this. Second, you are well off enough to afford the necessary technology to be able to receive and read it.
And finally, third, you have enough free time in your life to spend some of it doing nothing more than reading this.
We each can get so caught up in the minutiae of our lives that we can forget to stop and be grateful that we were given the opportunity to experience, as Bill Bryson author of the excellent book, “A Short History of Nearly Everything” put it, “the generally under-appreciated state known as existence” and to acknowledge how lucky we are to have been born at this particular point in human history rather than, say, the Dark Ages.
Being grateful for all you have and feeling lucky to have it, can bring about a sense of tranquility that makes the precious moments of one’s life even more special and can help us to stop sweating the small stuff because each moment is so precious.
Whether you have come to recognize it yet or not, your most valued asset is whatever time you have left on Earth so appreciate it and don’t waste it.
You truly are so, so lucky.
