You gotta love Windows

After the spam bot fiasco yesterday, I decided to do a clean install of Windows XP. After I got it installed I of course wanted to immediately install Microsoft Security Essentials. I went to the download page and surprisingly, the page could not determine which version of Windows I was using. So I told it wanted to download the version for Windows XP. Suddenly I get a dialog telling me that Internet Explorer has blocked a popup window for a file that might not be safe.

This is from Microsoft's own website. That sure inspires confidence. After closing this dialog and clicking on a message in the IE window and telling it to download the file, I finally got it going. But this was certainly far from a smooth process. Someone not as tech-savvy as me would have been quite confused.
